Smallville

Smallville is clever in the way it uses actors who have previously appeared as Superman characters in older versions of the story.

Annette O Toole plays Clark's mother Martha. She played Lana Lang in Superman 3.

Helen Slater, who played Supergirl in the movie, turns up as Kal El's mother Lara.

Terrance Stamp, who played General Zod in Superman 2, is there as the disembodied voice of Jor El.

Dean Cain played an immortal serial killer (who was supposed to have been Jack The Ripper - a plot device we hate).

Margot Kidder has been in it.

Christopher Reeve even turned up as the paralysed version of Dr Swann.

We've yet to see Terri Hatcher, but we hold out hopes.

(Even less likely that we'll ever see Marlon Brando. Though if he did a Michael Jackson video, he may have been tempted.)
