Splash

This haiku, after Bassho, is a death poem.

Try as he might the poet cannot get the 17 syllable haiku to work.
So, depressed, he pens a suicide note and then jumps into the water where he drowns.

The splash adds the 17th syllable, achieving in death what he failed to achieve in life.
