Bible translation
Those who argue about the signficance of Bible passages and worry about what might get lost in he translations and reprints might want to try Matthew 6 v 16-18.
It concerns fasting:
"When you fast, do not look sombre as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
Sage advice. Now, transplant the "s" to and "r" and you get "farting" rather than "fasting". Only one letter back in the alphabet, so not a huge mistranslation.
Now read the passage again.

Tori Amos, Neil Gaiman
Listening to Tori's first album Little Earthquakes while reading Neil Gaiman's Sandman graphic novels is highly recommended as a near to other level of consciousness experience.
Her song "Tear In Your Hand", possibly the most emotional of her early tracks, contains the line "if you need me, me and Neil'll be hanging out with the Dream King". Neil is, of course, Neil Gaimain, and the Dream King is The Sandman.
Neil and Tori have been friends for years and often reference each other and each other's work. In the novel Stardust (from which the movie was taken) there is a great chapter with a talking tree. Tori plays the tree. Or the tree is Tori. (If you read it you'll get it). In a couple of his novels, in the intros, he refers to her as "Mrs Hawley" (her husband's name is Mark Hawley).
We highly recommend reading his work while listening to hers.

Dead soldiers
Another soldier killed in action makes the news.
Depending on how you view the whole issue will decide how you perceive what that means.
You join the Army, you go to war, you can expect to get killed. Simple as that.
Or: we are invading their country. Imagine how we'd view and deal with their soldiers if they were here in Britain.
Or: these are brave young men going abroad and giving their lives for the freedom that you and I take for granted.
Or: these are brave young men dying needlessly in a pointless foreign was that has nothing to do with me. "Not in MY name!"

X Factor
Wonder how long it'll be before we see the most recent bunch of X Factor runners up releasing songs?
Louis is bound to do something with JLS, and there's a huge gap in the market for a new boyband right now, as I said previously.
Then there's Ruth with that huge voice and the whole sexy senorita thing which Simon is bound to want to push to her full potential.
And will Tweedy want to take her mentoring skills to the next level and properly back and manage an artist (something she can do post-GA)?
Then there's Diana. Gary Barlow said that if Simon doesn't sign her then he will. Which will release her from the X Factor contract and the clause about appearing in lad's mags.
We can just imagine her on the cover on Nuts:
"Diana Vickers in just her knickers".
(Though they'll probably do that thing where they airbrush them out. We won't complain either way.)

Paulo says
I was reading Paulo Coelho's blog the other day when somebody asked him
"Best piece of advice you have ever been given?".
Paulo's reply was simple:
"Don’t follow advices. Try it yourself."
I myself made this reply:
"So the best piece of advice you’ve ever given is not to follow advice but to try it for yourself. Genius! I’m certainly going to follow that advice! "
Alex pointed out that the best advice giver is our own intuition.
People who follow a famous blog often end up commenting at each other's blogs and it becomes the next step in the evolution of networking - oen step further than even the forums take us.
Who needs Facebook?!

We're not saying he was. But look at all the evidence.
Shaggy would take "Scooby snacks" and give one to the dog. Then look what would happen. He'd think the dog was talking to him. Then they'd get the munchies. Then they'd get paranoid and start seeing "ghosts" when there was really a simple explanation for what they were witnessing.
They were obviously addicted as they kept on after the "snacks".
And they spent all their time in the back of the van together. That weird trippy sign on the side is a hint as well.

How do you keep motivated?
Having small goals and achieving them one step at a time, create a pattern of success.
Having goal like "I want to be a millionaire" is not very helpful. How will you achieve this and in what time frame? (Because people do have this kind of goal is the reason that the Lottery is so popular.)
Set a small goal with a realistic timeframe:
I will sign up 10 affiliates in my first 3 months.
I will sign up 100 affiliates in my first year.
I will be making £100 a month within 6 months.
I will be making £200 a month by the end of my first year.
Once you've achieved this it's easy to go for more ambitious goals:
I will be making £500 a month by the end of my second year.
Then:
I will be making £2000 a month by the end of my third year.
So within 3 years you are making enough to really run your home business full time. Give up the day job.
Then it is time to set the really big goals, like Six Figure Income (and we all know where that came from), and go on from there.
Even the Great Wall of China was built one brick at a time.

Jabberwocky and Cycles (for example)
I often use cryptic titles to get clickthrus - it's the curiosity factor - which gets people to your site. This applies to blogs as much as it does to ads or articles.
How many ads do you see that simply say:
Internet marketing
Home Business
Work From Home
Work At Home
Business Opportunity
stuff like that?
Blogs are far more personal, they add back in that personal touch. Put the networking back into network marketing, as it were.
If people see you as a person rather than an "opportunity" and you see them as a person before a "Signup" or "customer" you're already off to a good start in a relationship.

Girls Aloud
Girls Aloud's latest vid "The Loving Kind" may be their last.
They've done 6 albums over 6 years and more or less had their innings. Is it worth them doing a 7th album? Nadine is ready to go solo, and Tweedy has other projects waiting, including X Factor.
This vid has taken them visually as far as they can go. Nadine looks spectacular, as always, but like Heidi Sugababe, has no more room for improvement. Tweedy now looks new look, like she looks off vid. Kimberley, for some reason, looks like the usual vid Cheryl, same makeup and expressions. Not sure if that's deliberate.
Harding, as usual, looks wild. Nicola, as usual, looks a mess.
Time to hand the baton to The Saturdays?

Pussycat Dolls
This new song "Watcha Think About That" is maybe their best yet. The vid contains some of their sexiest dancing, during Missy's rap - probably because it's spontaneous and not that usual MTV choregraphed stuff. The uniforms help as well.
Missy's rap contains some of the nearest to the knuckle lyrics you're likely to hear on a single: "you ain't gonna get no more pussy, cat".
(Also, with Missy on the vid, Jessica is no longer the roughest one there!)
Melody gets a chance to do some shrieking backing lyrics, something we've not seen since "I Don't Need A Man" - and hopefully we won't see, or hear, again.

The Snake
"Take me in oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake

His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew

Personally I don't pretend to be able to see the future (though I'd like to think people find I have a good nature)
However think about this.
Suppose you walk to a cliff's edge. Many things could happen. You could jump, you could be pushed, a gust of wind might carry you over, the cliff might crumble. But chances are you would turn around and walk away. You have just made a prediction, using the available information.
Now if you never go to the cliff's edge, you never run the risk of falling over.
So it is with anything, including marketing.
It's a balance between "fools rush in" and "he who hesitates".
And if you are going to hang round cliff edges, maybe take a parachute. Just in case.

Katie has released her 3rd single, and it's a slow ballad.
Sometimes this works, as in Avril Lavigne. Avril's 3rd was the ballad "I'm With You", following on from "Complicated" and "Skater Boi", and it really worked.
Garbiella Chilme didn't do so well in choosing her ballad. After hitting with "Sweet About Me" and the rocky followup "Save The Lies" her 3rd song sank.
Looks like Katie's about to do the same.
She caught everyone's attention with "I Kissed A Girl", then followed with "Hot and Cold". Her 3rd, a ballad, sounds like an Avril Lavigne song and she even sings it in Avril's voice for some reason. It has some odd vid about being a war widow.
The other thing about Katie is her image wasn't visually refined until the 2nd vid, with the eye makeup we recognise her with from her live appearances. So with "kissed a girl" she doesn't reall look like Katie.
As most artists, especially with their first album, only get 3 hits, and maybe squeeze out a 4th single which grazes the charts, the 3rd single paves the way for a second album. Or not.
A big chance when, like Katie, Avril or Chilme, you start off with a big novelty hit, then follow with a rock number.
Hopefully our Katie will be more Avril than Chilme.

SPIRAL OF SLEEP
Sleep as a huge heavy head with a long thin body balanced on the crutches of reality.
If ever those crutches break we feel we are falling.
It is the familiar sense of tumbling into a vast vacancy at that moment when sleep overcomes us.
And when we suddenly awaken we may not necessarily always realise that we are reliving the feeling of expulsion that so traumatised us at birth.
